The queen of the flower world, fresh with powdery, woody or fruity nuances, is feminine and intensely romantic. In numerous cultures, Roses are a symbol of love, beauty and perfection. Rose absolute, used in perfumery and skincare products for centuries, is mainly extracted from Rosa damascena (damask rose) and Rosa centifolia. Used throughout history for its sweet scent, Rose Oil is thought to induce feelings of love. The flowers are picked at dawn or sunset and distilled the same day.
Greek mythology tells how on Olympus, Crocus, a very handsome man besotted with the nymph Smilax, was killed when he was hit on the head while throwing the discus with Hermes. Later, a small mauve flower appeared where his blood had trickled. It was named after the unfortunate Crocus. The red gold is harvested at dawn so that the closed petals preserve their precious pistils. When they are carefully dosed, the molecules of this spicy, leathery note enhance the finesse of Rose.
